For many years before I started my course I had the ability to find the problem with people suffering from back pain, however, without formal training I was reluctant to put this natural ability into practice to fix their issues.

Having realized that I had a natural talent for massage, friends and family started asking me for massages and from this my passion for helping relieve people’s pain through massage grew.

1999 I started my diploma at TAFE Illawarra. The training that was provided to me was first rate and has stood me in good stead for my career as a professional Remedial Massage Therapist. The TAFE teachers did an excellent job of working with each individual student to develop their capabilities as a massage therapist.

After obtaining my formal TAFE qualification, I started Kevin Finlay Massage Therapy in 2001. Whilst I am trained in Swedish massage, my passion and current area of work is in Sports & Remedial Massage. I don’t just use massage to relieve pain; I try to fix the cause of the problem or refer the client to the correct health professional if I believe their problem cannot be fixed through remedial massage.

I believe the best way to do that is to have 3 treatments over 3 weeks initially and by then I will know if the condition is fixable or if the client needs ongoing treatments to manage their pain or in some cases if the client needs to be referred to another health care professional, e.g., a Physiotherapist, Osteopath or Chiropractor.

I now have 14 years experience as a qualified massage therapist. My massage technique is direct and I can find and fix most muscular skeletal problems that you present me with.
