2018 State Primary School Championships

The State Primary School Championships allow boys and girls the excitement of fighting for State primary school glory.
\n\n\n\n
The Regional Primary School events will run over two weekends in October, with a State final series to be played in December.

The entry fee for this tournament is non-refundable if a team decides to withdraw at any stage.
\n\n\n\n
1. No player may play in more than one year group in any one year’s regional or state championship without written approval from Basketball Tasmania.
\n\n\n\n
2. Players must be bona fide students of the school being represented for the majority of the year.
\n\n\n\n
3. Games will consist of four x 10 minute quarters running clocks. The clock will stop for time-outs only and full FIBA rules in the last three minutes of the last quarter if the scores are closer than six points.
\n\n\n\n
4. Five minutes warm-up will be allowed, time permitting.
\n\n\n\n
5. One minute halftime break, 1 minute quarter time break.
\n\n\n\n
6. One time out per half.
\n\n\n\n
7. The 24-second shot clock will not be in operation.
\n\n\n\n
8. Players must be uniformly dressed, including shorts. As per recent FIBA rule changes, players will be able to wear number 0 and 00 and any number from 1 to 99.
\n\n\n\n
9. T-shirts, regardless of style, may not be worn under a playing singlet, even if a medical certificate is provided.
\n\n\n\n
10. Headbands and armbands may only be worn if their colour is a major colour contained in the playing uniform.
\n\n\n\n
11. Appropriate sponsorship only may be displayed on the playing gear.
\n\n\n\n
12. Draws must be played out – an extra three - (3) minutes will be played.
\n\n\n\n
13. Admission charges for 2018:
\n\n\n\n
-Players and Adults - $5 per day
\n\n-Non-playing children (Under 16) - $4 per day
\n\n-Concessions - $4 per day
\n\n-Family (2 adults, 2 children) - $15 per day
\n\n-Family Weekend Pass - $25 for the weekend
\n\n\n\n
Note: 3 x Official passes per team will be available at the door. Officials must produce their weekend passes to obtain entry. Players can be included in the family passes.
\n\n\n\n
14. Teams may specify entry into Division 1,2 or 3, however Basketball Tasmania reserves the right to grade teams at its sole discretion and also to vary the number of divisions dependent on entries and their standard.
\n\n\n\n
15. Twelve players may be nominated in a team and all 12 may play in any one game.
\n\n\n\n
16. Teams must supply two score table officials for each game in which they participate.
\n\n\n\n
17. Teams must supply a referee for each team they send to the championships. Payment of your supplied referee is your responsibility. Please ensure any Referee you nominate is aware and available for all games. Teams may elect to pay $150 + GST per team and Basketball Tasmania will allocate a referee to fulfill this requirement. Referees will be rostered by the Referee Supervisor and may not officiate on games involving their teams.

18. All players and team officials must be registered members of Basketball Tasmania - this is mandatory and non-negotiable. Basketball Tasmania's standard insurance cover (in particular, Sports Injury, Personal Accident and Professional Indemnity) automatically extends to include all players and officials participating in this event (including travelling to and from) who are registered 2018 members (ie all who are registered through the Basketball Tasmania Club/ Association structure need do nothing more). All other participants, be they players or non-playing officials, who are not 2018 members of BTAS must become members prior to the event. Membership of Basketball Tasmania to cover this event only is available to unregistered players at a cost of $10.00 per person and at no cost to team officials. 19. The Basketball Tasmania Code of Conduct applies to this event. Details can be found on the Basketball Tasmania website www.basketballtasmania.com.au

20. In submitting their entry, schools have certified that all requirements of Basketball Tasmania have been met, including those relating to the National Member Protection Policy.
\n\n\n\n

All players must be registered with Basketball Tasmania through their local CAM. If a player is not a member in 2018 they need complete Basketball Tasmania membership before playing in the tournament otherwise they will be ruled ineligible to play. To become a member click here.
