Her style is to respond to the specific desires of the workshop participants, and she easily moves between experiments and explorations put forward by the them. These could range from from walking to complex performance to prickly communication issues to horseback riding to teaching to....chopping vegetables.

\nCathy Madden's Alexander Technique Training was with Marjorie Barstow, one of the great first generation teachers of the Technique and a graduate of F M Alexander's first training course. She worked as Barstow's teaching assistant between 1980 - 1994. Since then Cathy has developed a reputation for her skilled and innovative style of teaching. Her book Teaching the Alexander Technique: Active Pathways to Integrative Practice will be published in July 2018.

Cathy is currently Principal Lecturer in Alexander Technique at the University of Washington School of Drama teaching in the Professional Actor Training Program, Director of the Alexander Technique Training and Performance Studio in Seattle, and an Associate Director for BodyChance in Japan. She is also author of Integrative Alexander Technique Practice for Performing Artists: Onstage Synergy, and co-editor of a collection of teaching studies, Galvanizing Performance.
