\n\tOnce your lantern has dried you can hang it over a light globe and each time you flick the 'On' switch you are bathed in the light of all the aspects of you life that nourish, support, motivate and generally 'light up' your world.

We use our art work to solidify and give depth to these points, as art and expression allows us to use our senses to connect with what have found.

Beside each outer point on your Mind Map, using lots of colours, use the coloured pencils or markers to draw a symbol or small picture that represents that point - if you can't think of a picture choose a colour that you feel represents that point and circle it.
\n\tYou are going to use these symbols and/or colours to create your lantern
\n\tFirst up we are going to create a little map to outline our motivations and start us on the path to connecting with what it is that makes our lives meaningful and give us hope.
\n\n\n\n
Take a coloured pencil or marker and start by writing the question 'What lights up my life?' in the middle of your page and draw a circle around it.
\n\tLet this question swim through your mind and begin to think about all the aspects of your life that nourish, support, have meaning and motivate you.
\n\tFor each thing you identify draw a 'leg' off your initial circle and write that point at the end of the leg.
\n\tKeep doing this untill you can't think of any more points.
\n\tThis is call a Mind map and you can use it to explore any question you like.

These activities are not intended to be distressing or overwhelming, however because we are starting on a journey of inner discovery, memories and emotions can surface.

If any emotions arise, try to sit with them and allow them to inform and guide your art. Emotions are like a barometer, they are indications that something is going on inside, something that needs a voice and wants to be heard.
\n\n\n\n
These activities are a safe way of giving these emotions a means of communication and processing their information.
\n\n\n\n
Have fun with them, get creative and see what's happening beneath the surface.

Take your paper lantern and using the water colour paints and/or the tissue paper begin to transcibe each symbol onto its surface.
\n\tIf you couldn't think of symbols or images, take the colours you've associated with each point and use the different colours to write the points onto your lantern or paste the tissue paper onto the lantern, wait until it's dry and write the points over the paper.
\n\tLet your intuition guide you and if you feel that your lantern needs more embelishment, by all means, let the creativity flow!
\n\tNOTE: The paper is quite fragile so be careful not to use too much water & glue or press too hard or the paper will tear.
