Custom Foot Orthotics
\n\nCustom Foot Orthotics are made by prescription only and are designed for your individual foot and needs
\n\tPlaster cast and 3D scanning technology is utilised to capture a digital image of your foot. This is then sent to our manufacturing laboratory along with a personalised script written by your Podiatrist.
\n\tCustom orthotics are one off items and not mass produced. Additional pairs of the same orthotic can be reproduced as finished designs are stored digitally.
\n\tCustom orthotics are made of high-impact, long lasting materials to support and realign your foot. The addition of high quality top cover materials to provide long lasting comfort
\n\tThey can generally be adjusted to accommodate changes in your activities and footwear over time.
\n\tPrefabricated Foot Orthotics
\n\nPrefabricated (or 'off the shelf') orthotics are a cost effective solution for children with rapidly growing feet. They are also suitable for adults with a range of foot complains.
\n\tLifespan and durability is reduced when compared to custom devices due to the nature of the materials used
\n\tLimited customisation of these devices is possible
\n\tThey often provide superior support and function than innersoles bought from a retail outlet.
\n\tPrefabricated orthotics are not suitable for every individual or foot type. Assessment by a Podiatrist is suggested before purchase.

\n\nOrthotics are physical devices created to fit inside your regular footwear. They provide support, correction of abnormal foot biomechanics and are used to improve function of the foot and lower limb. Orthotics may be customised to an individual or prefabricated from a generic template.

\n\nWhat do they do?

Orthotics have a large number of uses and are not only used by athletes. They may be utilised to offload and reduce forces on a particular area or structure of the foot (such as a joint, muscle, tendon or ligament). They can be used to limit or control movements at a joint or correct any abnormal biomechanics.

\n\nWhat conditions do they treat?

Foot orthotics can be used to treat problems in the hip, knee, ankle and foot. They can be used to accommodate foot deformities, people with plantar fasciitis, achilles problems and shin pain. People with flat feet may also benefit from the use of orthotics.

\n\nWhy should I see a Podiatrist for orthotics when they sell them on TV?

\n\nThe function and quality of orthotics varies greatly. Podiatrists are trained in the biomechanics of the foot and lower limb and so are able to ensure the correct type of device for any given complaint. Podiatrists also have the knowledge and expertise to adjust and modify orthotics to better suit the individual.
