style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\">MY JOURNEY...
\nMusic has always been part of my life. From a young 8 year old lad in a country town singing in a children’s choir, an opportunity presented itself with the local brass band to learn the cornet. After a short time pretending to be a rock guy playing the guitar I decided that there was something very attractive about brass playing. From receiving my first Trumpet at age 12 I took my music very seriously looking for opportunities to play. Music theatre productions at school, brass band competitions and performances quickly became the common thing. Being offered a music scholarship in upper secondary school I travelled three hours a day to and from the big city of Melbourne to further my studies and complete secondary school. I had become a muso!
\n\n

\n\n
Melbourne opened up even more opportunities to perform in groups and to strive for a standard I never imagined. From here it was off to University to study music and my journey began. It was here I discovered a real joy in conducting as well as performing.
\n\n

\n\n
I was fortunate to be offered my first professional appointment straight out of University as Director of Music. I spent several years in this role in a large School in Victoria (after starting up Band and Choral programs in various schools for the Victorian Education Department). I found myself learning about leadership, management and a vast number of other elements to do with the wider picture of education very quickly and thrived on this constant learning. I was fascinated with how the mind works, and why some people perform at the highest level and others struggle - my journey on how the mind works, the mind-body connection and accelerated learning began. In addition to managing the department I taught class music, brass instruments, conducted bands, choirs and orchestras whilst continuing to look for opportunities to perform and conduct. This led me to discover the fun with being involved with music theatre and community music making conducting many bands and choirs. My work had also become my hobby!
\n\n

\n\n
I decided to research international schools from a lifelong attraction to living and working overseas. I travelled to Norway to take up a similar position in an International School. This intended ‘short’ stay turned into several years. From a few years in Norway, I accepted a similar role and spent a few more years in the Philippines. These experiences provided me with further opportunities to perform, conduct and to study and further my great interest in school leadership, and peak performance, leading me to study the masters of the arts, business, life and learners in greater detail, resuting in me becoming a Coach & Master Practioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), neurological repatterning, creation and peak performance technologies to help me, my students and colleagues. I continued to create opportunities to work with international leaders in my field. Incredible opportunities then presented themselves to me. To have so much sharing and input in managing, developing and teaching different curriculum, leadership programs and co-curricular music programs and to continue to perform and Conduct ensembles and choirs with people from all over the world we found the International Schools lifestyle so professionally stimulating and such a buzz.
\n\n

\n\n
With a love of learning, and being a musician, I wanted to learn all I could about how the mind learns. The power of the human mind continues to intrigue me and surprise me. I continued my learning focussing on sharing tools to help others to be the best they could be in their career and life. From this I found a real interest in wanting to further expand and contribute to education both within and outside the music podium. I continued my learning. Opportunities presented themselves and I was invited to work on education, curriculum development, staff development, education management and accreditation projects in various parts of the world. I spent some time enjoying different challenges as a School Principal, Coach and Leadership consultant to Schools and Businesses. This opened up many education and business consulting opportunities in addition to keeping to my roots and my real passion for conducting, teaching and performance, which I continue to enjoy.
\n\n

\n","stylesMapId":"CK_EDITOR_PARAGRAPH_STYLES","linkList":[]}},"theme_data":{},"component_properties":{"WPht0":{"type":"WPhotoProperties","metaData":{"schemaVersion":"1.0"},"displayMode":"fitWidth","onClickBehavior":"goToLink"},"WPhtc":{"type":"WPhotoProperties","metaData":{"schemaVersion":"1.0"},"displayMode":"fill","onClickBehavior":"goToLink"}}},"title":"Biography","pageUriSEO":"page3"}
