Ministry of Health Report on Clinical Exercise Physiology Role in NZ
\n\nThe New Zealand Ministry of Health released a report on 17 February 2016 called: Evaluation of the establishment of Clinical Exercise Physiologist role in New Zealand. This document demonstrates the need and the benefit of clinical exercise physiologists in the New Zealand health care system.
\n\nCEPNZ Certification
\n\nWe are going to start with the CEP certification process in March 2016 (essentially issuing the practice certificates).
\n\nEveryone who wants to become a registered CEP and thus eligible to practice as a CEP in New Zealand need to complete the application form (available under the membership button on this site) and send it to l.dreyer@ucol.ac.nz preferably before 11 March 2016.
\n\n\n\n
Also, note the fact that you need to pay your $200.00 membership fee for 2016.
\n\nIf you are not already a foundation member you also need to pay the $50 initial application fee.
\n\n\n\n
NOTE: We will not issue certificates to individuals who have not completed the form and who have not paid their $200 year membership fees.
\n\n\n\n
If you read this please check with your colleagues (who wants to register as practicing CEP's) and inform them of the deadline and forms that need to be completed.

NOTE: The form that most of you completed before was an application to become a foundation member.
\n\nIn order to be considered for certification as a practicing CEP you need to complete the new form and in particular Sections C, D and E. Sections C and D will determine whether you will have to sit an oral exam or not.

Annual General Meeting
\n\nThe AGM of CEPNZ was held at UCOL in Palmerston North on the 19 November 2015. The meeting was well attended and the Board and Members were very positive about the way the society was progressing. The officers were re-elected with no change and a new Board Member was nominated and this nomination was accepted. The main outcome was now that the task of establishing the society, and the process for accreditation, is almost over the line, we need to refocus on delivering benefits for members. These include setting up indemnity insurance, a directory of CEP experts (see the new tab on the www), ongoing PD opportunities, and establish an annual meeting for research during which we will hold the AGM. So watch this space!

CEPNZ new membership structure launched (January 2015)
\n\nCEPNZ has launched its new membership structure effective from April 1 2015 to align with the new financial year. All foundation members will be contacted in the New Year about this structure and will be able to renew their membership aligned to this framework. Details are available under the Membership tab.

Alignment with the Clinical Physiologists Registration Board (October 2014)
\n\nSince the initial discussions around setting up CEPNZ aligning ourselves with the allied health workforce has always been a key tenant of our existence. The Clinical Physiologists Registration Board (CPRB) and CEPNZ are starting discussions around if this can work for us all. This would be a good fit and would see CEPNZ aligned with clinical physiologists, scientists, technologists and technicians working in the areas of cardiology, respiratory, sleep medicine and renal dialysis. We'll keep you posted on how these talks are progressing.

CEPNZ June Board Meeting Held (June 2013)
\n\nThe mid year CEPNZ Board meeting was held in Wellington on the 26th June with a full attendance. The board is making excellent progress with the three major projects it has set itself for 2013 around a) Foundation Membership b) Membership Structure from 2014 and beyond and c) establishing a registration process for practicing Clinical Exercise Physiologists. The Foundation Membership drive has started and will go into overdrive in the next month. The other two projects will be completed and in place by the end of 2013.

CEPNZ Foundation membership is now open (April 2013)
\n\nYou can now join CEPNZ as a foundation member. This initial membership drive is crucial for the society to get an indication of the size of the membership and into which categories members will fall so we can foward plan for our various memberships to be launched from January 1st 2014. So spread this news widely to all of your stakeholders who might be interested. Visit the Membership tab to find out how to join.

CEPNZ becomes an Incorporated Society (March 2013)

It's official CEPNZ has landed! The Certificate of Incorporation (2573502) was awarded on 10th January 2013. If you visit http://www.societies.govt.nz/ and search for CEPNZ you can see all the relevent paperwork and rules of the society.
\n\nSo we're now set to move into the next phase of our launch, setting the wheels of membership in action. Watch this space.

2013 Plans (January 2013)
\n\nIn late 2012 documentation was submitted for the formation of our registered society. This outcome is now pending and should be announced shortly. We will then move to launch our Foundation Membership drive in February and then look to announce our inaugural Annual General Meeting during which we hope to ratify the Clinical Exercise Physiology Accreditation Pathway and confirm the various levels of CEPNZ Membership. Not much to do this year then!

CEPNZ Launches (November 2012)
\n\nThe foundation Committee of CEPNZ was established following a meeting in Palmerston North on the 29th November 2012. Seventeen foundation members attended this meeting. Four members were nominated and voted onto the CEPNZ Committee.
\n\nDean Rankin from UCOL in Palmerston North was elected as the inaugural chair of CEPNZ. "Its an exciting time to be in this field in New Zealand and the CEPNZ Committee is looking forward to growing membership over the next few months".

CEPNZ Board formed (November 2012)
\n\nThe foundation Board of CEPNZ was established following a meeting in Palmerston North on the 29th November 2012. Seventeen foundation members attended this meeting. Four members were nominated and voted onto the CEPNZ Board. Members undertook to grow this committee and ratified the society rules (to be lodged with the Companies Office) to establish an incorporated society. In accordance with the rules of the society, elections of officers will be carried out annually.
