At the Bruce Clarke Guitar Workshop we strongly urge our students to keep a DAILY PRACTICE ROUTINE. Consistently attending lessons also helps. Doing so will help to maintain satisfactory progress and thus greater enjoyment in playing guitar.

We very much want to see our students progress and the best way to do this is to practise regularly and attend lessons. !0 minutes' focussed practice every day is far better than 2 hours' cramming once a week!

Every once in a while we can run a workshop with a special guest.

Such workshops can help provide students at a certain level with valuable experience working with other musicians, and provide a forum for sharing ideas and interests.

Currently workshops are run on an ad hoc basis and there are no set timetables; however, we are working towards being able to provide workshops more frequently.

Our lessons are normally an hour long. Shorter lesson times (30 minutes) can be accommodated in some circumstances, (e.g. for beginners) but as a rule short lessons are not adequate to achieve all that we want for our students, particularly the more advanced ones. We take our work seriously, and expect our students to be self-motivated and committed.

We aim to equip our students with a good understanding of music as well as physical playing skills. Everybody has different musical goals and tastes - Do you want to play a particular musical style or be able to improvise? Do you want to relax at home playing your favourite tunes, work in a band, be a singer/songwriter, or record music? We try to give our students the knowledge and techniques they need to navigate the world of music according to their own personal compass. In the early days, it's easy to get lost, so we are there to help beginners find their feet, and act as checkpoints/reference for more experienced musicians.
