Emerging Craft Practitioners Award in 2016. &nbsp;The&nbsp;award includes the opportunity for the winning artist to exhibit new work at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins in the following year.</p>\n\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">​</span></p>\n\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"text-align:justify\">The works in this exhibition continue Frith&#39;s&nbsp;investigation of surface, exploring&nbsp;the relationship between unconventional finishes and contained forms. &nbsp;Volatile crater glazes are countered with smooth satin finishes, creating a dialogue between the controlled and organic. &nbsp;Frith portrays and idiosyncratic landscape of extremes, utilising a horizon of contrasting glaze lines.&nbsp;With each panel subject to unpredictability in the firing, <span style=\"font-style:italic\">Topography</span> alludes to a seemingly alive surface. When making, Frith&rsquo;s technical approach is both balanced and driven by these chance outcomes.&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p class=\"font_8\">&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"text-align:justify\">Alison Frith is a ceramic artist living and working in Melbourne.&nbsp; She adopts unconventional surfaces to create a narrative between the organic and refined.&nbsp; With a strong focus on technique, Frith employs crater glazes to interrupt honed forms and clean lines. Highlighting the materiality of clay, Frith creates a dialogue between form and surface and the various ways this reads to the viewer.</p>\n\n<p class=\"font_8\"
