As a cellist, she has worked extensively in both classical and popular music. She has performed with the Paris Opera Ballet, Opera Queensland, Opera Australia, Australian Ballet, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Cologne Philharmonic and Camerata of St John’s. In 2011, her quartet Bentley Strings performed for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Danielle has a Bachelor of Music (cello), Masters in Creative Industries (Creative Enterprise and Entrepreneurship) and completed her PhD in 2011 on the Restrung New Chamber Festival: an exploration of contemporary string practice and festival programming. Danielle was nominated for an Outstanding Thesis Award for her thesis. The inaugural Restrung – which Danielle funded, managed and curated - took place in 2008 at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Restrung’s focus is to promote Australian art music within a mixed program featuring alternative pop, rock and cross-genre music. Visual, spatial, educational, interactive and social features are used to increase the quality and intensity of audience experience and authorship e.g. live-mixed video art, workshops, forums and interactive installations. Previously, in 2005, she curated and managed the Australian Music for Strings Weekend - sponsored by Rockhampton City Council - another festival research project.

Grants and scholarships for Danielle’s research and festival work include an Institute for Creative Industries & Innovation (iCi) scholarship, a QUT Postgraduate Research Award and QUT Grant-in-Aid to fund a 6-week European festival research trip, and two Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre grants for Restrung (2012) and to assist her participation in the European Festival Association’s Atelier for Young Festival Managers, being held in Edinburgh in 2014. She has been awarded three Australia Council grants for Restrung in Promotion and Presentation and New Work (Media Arts).

An active musicologist, Danielle has been Secretary of the Musicological Society of Australia (QLD Chapter) (2010-2011), as well as being the Student Representative for the Society’s National Chapter (2010-2011). She has delivered research papers for the Musicological Society of Australia and the International Association for the Study of Popular Music, was a guest lecturer in festival studies at the University of Glamorgan (Wales), and has sat on a number of panels at the National Young Writers’ Festival (2008 and 2010).

As an educator, Danielle has taught private cello students since 2002 and tutored academic work at tertiary level in World Music and Creative Industries at QUT (2009-2010).

Danielle is a published poet, having won an award from the University of Sydney for her piece Oceanic Grief, and writer, with articles appearing in World New Music Magazine, Music Forum (Music Council of Australia) and the Conference Proceedings for the International Association for the Study of Popular Music.

In 2012, Danielle led several lives: she was Festival Manager for Crossbows – the Queensland Conservatorium small ensembles festival (May 10-13 2012), Curator of Restrung: Sounds Unbound (Brisbane Powerhouse October 26-28 2012), Manager of Bentley’s Agency (providing music for weddings and events since 2002), and core cellist with Camerata of St John’s and Collusion. She recorded two CDs with Collusion in 2012: Flashpoint – featuring Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time and Hindemith’s clarinet and piano trio; and I Read the Old Dream Slowly: a collection of Australian works.

2013 saw Danielle managing the International Music Council’s 5th World Forum on Music (WFM5) at the Queensland Conservatorium. WFM5 was host to over 150 panels and performances, 12 satellite conferences, a music bazaar and several other major events. In August 2013, Danielle won the prestigious national APRA-AMCOS Art Music Award for Excellence by an Individual for Dedication and Commitment to Australian Art Music and Chamber Music. In 2014-15, Danielle recorded on two more Collusion CDs, managed and curated the second edition of Crossbows, worked in Philanthropy at Queensland Theatre Company, and as a freelance musicological writer and editor, and maintains a busy performance schedule with Collusion and other projects.
