As ACCCK is a non-profit, community based child care centre one way to keep our fees to a minimum is by involving our parents in the running of the Service. Parents can help in many ways:
\n\nbeing on the Committee of Management,
\n\tbeing on a sub-committee,
\n\thelping at community events,
\n\thelping at working bees or spending the odd half hour reading stories to the children.
\n\t\n\n
These activities are vital to the smooth running of the Centre and are also a great way to get to know other parents in the area. If you have a special skill that you think may be of use to the Centre, please talk to the Director.

Music is a great opportunity for your child to express themselves. Families are charged a additional small fee for the program. All children attending on the day of the music program will automatically be charged this fee.

ACCCK offers two excursions throughout the year, one being for the kindergarten room during April the second is for the Dolphin and kindergarten room during October.

We also offer incursions throughout the year for all children, this may include visits from the Victoria police, CFA, performers and story tellers, and animal visits.

The ACCCK philosophy has an emphasis on learning through play. Play provides opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine.

Children’s learning is ongoing and each child progresses in different and equally meaningful ways. When planning for children, educators use an emergent plan encompassing the following steps:
\n\nObservation of children, taken in a variety of forms, e.g. photos, learning stories and art work
\n\tIdentifying the child’s learning and defining a learning outcome
\n\tProviding opportunities for a child to extend on their learning.
\n\t\n\n
Educators base their observations on the five learning outcomes described in The Early Years Learning Framework. They work towards promoting in each child:
\n\nA strong sense of identity
\n\tThe ability to be connected with and contribute to their world
\n\tA strong sense of well being
\n\tConfidence and the ability to be involved learners
\n\tEffective communication skills
\n\t\n\n
Parents’ feedback and involvement is valuable and essential in ensuring a quality care environment.

To access this program, children need to have turned four before April the 30th in the relevant year.

ACCCK four year old kindergarten program is offered over four days running from 8.30 to 4.45. The program is run by a qualified early childhood teacher who is supported by a Diploma trained educator. The program aims to provide children with the skills needed to commence school the following year.
