She is a passionate and experienced nature educator, eco-artist, trainer and researcher with a love of nature play and outdoor learning and has worked both in Australia and internationally.

\nSam has developed, delivered and implemented nature pedagogy programs at the Parklands and since their inception in 2012 they have engaged thousands of children and families with their local nature spaces. In time the success of these programs resulted in the development of the Ian Potter Children’s Wild Play Garden which opened in October 2017 and has had over 200,000 people through the gates engaging in nature play.
In 2013 in partnership with the Sydney Institute of TAFE Sam co-authored Australia’s first recognised training program for Early Years practitioners to take their children into the bush, titled Early Years Bush Connections. Sam is the lead trainer for the course and has mentored individuals across Australia in Nature Pedagogy from Park Rangers to School Teachers and most recently blossoming nature educators in Tasmania.

\nSam also researches this area and has recently completed her Master of Education at Western Sydney University in Social Ecology. She was the recipient of a Botanic Gardens Foundation and Friend’s scholarship in 2016 where she travelled to Europe to visit and connect with nature kindergartens and woodland mentoring practices.

Themes will include invoking a sense of wonder, developing ecological understanding, how to allow children to benefit from risk and free play in nature and the importance of engaging imaginations.

\n\nParticipants should wear appropriate outdoor clothing to feel comfortable in and able to move around in.
