Growing up with a lazy eye, nothing felt as tortuous as being photographed - every time the shots came back I'd be looking in the wrong direction (although making eye contact with the camera), making a very awkward child feel even more aware his eyes weren't like everyone else and didn't fit in. In a move of cunning brilliance, I discovered volunteering to TAKE the photos not only got me out of a horrible experience, but developed into a something I'd love.

\n\nI understand more than most photographers how terrifying, anxious and uncomfortable it can be to have someone take your photo, and it's my mission to show you that this can change. My approach to photos of people might be a little different to most, but I've lost count of the number of times I've heard "I never realised I would like a photo of myself" - so clearly something is working. These are my golden rules:

\n1. No time limit - when you book me for a portrait, the shoot takes as long as is needed to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. A genuine smile lights up a face like sunbeams, and no amount of Photoshop witchcraft makes a forced smile look realistic! When we discuss the details, I'll advise on how we can make it enjoyable and fun and the shoot runs smoothly.

2. No awkward poses - however for work-related portraits I'll provide advice and recommendations that relates to your industry and role as well as what you want to use the photos for. The image on your website and the one on LinkedIn should be different and I'll cover this with you when we plan your shoot.

3. Ask lots of questions - so we capture your personality and tells an engaging story of who you are.
\n
4. Snap like crazy! I've been known to return from a 15-minute shoot with 200 images.
\n
5. You get to decide - I'll sort through the images, then send you all the unedited images via Dropbox so you can pick the ones you want edited. I want you to chose YOUR favourites for editing - but if you're happy to go with my judgement I can make the selection for you and save you precious time!
