The Salsa Kingz band was formed by founding member Christian Guerrero, who is no stranger to the Sydney Latin scene having performed previously with Sonora Galaxia since 1991. (Sonora Galaxia has performed at many iconic venues including the closing ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics). Christian has developed the experience and know-how of leading and directing Latin bands from the early age of 18. Although Christian still directs and leads Sonora Galaxia from time to time, it is the newly formed Salsa Kingz that has taken over the Sydney Latin Scene as the band of choice by many event planners in the industry.

The band was officially launched in the summer of 2004 with the aim of appealing to a wider audience range 'down under'. Over the years the band has evolved with a full Latin percussion section and a powerful brass section to rival any of the Salsa bands found today in Latin America. The Salsa Kingz have also had the honour and privilege of touring Nationally with the legendary Jimmy Bosch (direct from USA) during January of 2014.

It would be two years later for the band to win their first award, taking home the 2013 Latin American Entertainment Business Award - and again two years after that, would bring their most proudest and recent achievement: The winning of the 2014 & 2015 ACE Awards for BEST SHOWBAND (awarded by the Australian Club Entertainment Committee).With over 1000 shows under their belt, and after receiving 4 nominations for the prestigious ACE award in the category of best showband (over 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016), the band was finally starting to pick up momentum and recognition within the Australian Clubs industry.

They are also recipients of many community recognition awards including Darling Harbour "VIVA FIESTA Award" and the “Marcia Legacy Award” (presented by the Sydney Latin Festival Organisation 2014). Salsa Kingz have become a trusted name in the Australian/Latin American scene and is now one of the most sort-out party Latin bands in Sydney, proven by popular demand!
